John 3:14-15, Psalm 116:3, Psalm 38,  Matthew 14:30, Ephesians 4:14

You think the Lord your God is nowhere to be found.
You think He hides Himself from you.
You cry out but it seems He doesn’t hear a sound.
It seems He hides His face from you.

Bow your head, get on your knees,
close your eyes, and look up
Call on Jesus, He knows your need.
His grace will be enough.
So bow your head and drop to your knees.
Close your eyes, and look up

The cords of death have wrapped themselves around your life.
You are so weak you cannot move.
The pain is coming strong – it cuts just like a knife.
You are wounded, crushed and bruised.

Bow your head, get on your knees,
close your eyes, and look up
Call on Jesus, He knows your need.
His grace will be enough.
So bow your head and drop to your knees.
Close your eyes, and look up

Just as Moses lifted up the snake – He was raised up on the cross.
He poured His blood out, saving you and me.
Confused by all the crashing waves, and by the wind you are tossed.
Put your eye upon the One you cannot see.

You think your sin is more than the Lord can bare.
Mercy and grace are not enough.
You’ve turned away – your throat is like an open grave.
Your heart is just too hard and tough.

Bow your head, get on your knees,
close your eyes, and look up
Call on Jesus, He knows your need.
His grace will be enough.
So bow your head and drop to your knees.
Close your eyes, and look up.

Inspiration
Mac Powell was introducing the next song at aThird Day concert I attended at Wild Adventures in Valdosta, GA.  He was explaining how he was in a time of confusion and didn’t know whether to look left or right or straight ahead.  I thought “Look Up”.  He was introducing Revelation.  That stuck in my head for a few weeks.  Then I sat down and wrote this song.

The Bronze Snake
They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea,  to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way;  they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!”  Then the LORD sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. 7 The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. The LORD said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.”  So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived.
